Episode 48: Rochelle Weinstein, USA TODAY and Amazon bestselling author

Rochelle chats about her latest release, This is Not How It Ends, how writing every book is different, the ups and downs of writing life, and she has great advice for writers, and on kindness and life in general.

Interview Notes:

We chat about her latest release last year; THIS IS NOT HOW IT ENDS, and about the beauty in writing when you can touch just one reader.

We talk about how writing every book is different; and how this last one took 3 months to draft as compared to her current project, which has gone through probably 22 iterations!

Rochelle shares the ups and downs of the writing process, and encourages us all to keep going.

Her advice for fellow writers is to manage expectations, know your personal goal and what you want out of your book, the must-have of professional editing (shout-out mid interview here to Tiffany Yates Martin who edited both of our books and her amazing book which has now become Rochelle and my editing bible -  INTUITIVE EDITING).

And the key differentiator between the success and not successful writers out there; never giving up!

Rochelle is a huge reader and she does some show and tell for us! BECOMING DUTCHESS GOLDBLATT. In 2021 she picks out THE PUSH by Ashely Audrain  – insane, wild crazy and page-turning!  ELIZA STARTS A RUMOR by Jane L Rosen – fabulous and fun.

A book that was amazing: THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY by Matt Haig. Rochelle encourages us to follow Matt on social media – he is brilliant with tremendous depth and insight.

Rochelle even shares her TBR (FYI this was recorded more than a month ago), which includes E ART OF HAPPY MOVING by Ali Wenzke because Rochelle is moving soon.

Also on the TBR - THE HENNA ARTIST by Alka Joshi, BAND OF SISTERS by Lauren Willig, and THE KINDEST LIE by Nancy Johnson @nancyjauthor , Zibby Owens @zibbyowens MOM’S DON’T HAVE TIME TO, EVERYTHING AFTER by Jill Santopolo.

Rochelle wraps by talking about the importance, in this writing and publishing business, of supporting each other- and encouraging us to take the time to write reviews.

** Editor’s note –there’s a little bit of an audio synch issue at the start but if you stick with it, straightens itself out by about 15 seconds in and the video on my side improves too. Although recently I’ve started throwing Hubby out of his office to be nearer the router when I record these :)
