Interview Notes

Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and #1 Amazon Bestselling Author, Barbara O’Neal talks about her latest novel, THE LOST GIRLS OF DEVON – released in July 2020.

I start by congratulating her on some amazing recent milestones; over one million readers on her Amazon publishing titles and also WHEN WE BELIEVED IN MERMAIDS alone has one million readers, too!

We chat about latest novel which released in July, THE LOST GIRLS OF DEVON, which was inspired by a trip to Devon the south of England, and her interest in all the perils and challenges facing young girls and how it has changed across generations.

Barbara shares how she keeps finding inspiration after so many bestsellers (the importance of the mindset that you are always creating new book and having ideas “on the back of the stove”), and how hard she works on setting as a character, which helps readers escape somewhere.

Her advice for early career authors: “be true to your own voice” (and she explains what that means). Plus a sneak peek at what’s she’s been working on for her next book!
